Memorial Day Weekend - Monday

We spent this Memorial Day much like we did last year. We ate grilled meat, played with bubbles, and had s'mores. Abigail loved being able to spend a big chunk of the day outside. Sarah seemed to enjoy it too, even though she couldn't do too much. The girls had so much fun that they were in bed and sleeping right at 7:00.

Memorial Day Weekend - Sunday

Today we spent time with family as we celebrated the sending off of my cousin, Veronica, who is off to boot camp on June 1.

Veronica is Constance's mom, who is only about a month and a half younger than Abigail. As they've grown up it has been fun to see them play together and get into things together. They don't see each other too terribly often, but when they do they just get back to the business of being cousins. Today was no different. They spent most of their time together playing in the sprinkler. They both had a blast!

Sarah taking notes on how a big girl plays in the sprinkler.

Bridget waiting for her chance (only a little over a week until she is due :-)

I should also mention that Uncle Nate is in boot camp right now too. Uncle Nate is Jonathan's youngest brother. We're all proud of him. Here is one of my favorite pictures of Uncle Nate with Abigail from a while ago:

On the Move

Sarah is on the move! She has been officially scooting for a few days now. I call it a "tripod" scoot because she would push on three limbs and get her arm stuck under her chest. Here is Sarah scooting the other day:

In only a matter of days Sarah has added a new trick, getting up on her knees. I am convinced she spends time where she should be falling asleep for the night practicing this new skill. Before we know it she'll be crawling all over the place!

What a Weekend!

We had a great weekend. It started with The Great Giveaway on Saturday. Jonathan went early to help set up (around 7 or so). I met up with him, bringing the girls along, around 9:30. Thanks to many amazing volunteers both Jonathan and I were able to help with the event outside, where all of the giveaway items were. Inside the church was a kids wonderland. Abigail had a blast! She spent a lot of time playing with water and jumping in a bounce house. She was entertained and cared for for a good four hours or so. Sarah spent most of her time in our backpack carrier. She even took a little nap while my friend carried her around in it. What a great invention! Here is a video of Abigail and one of her first times in a bounce house:

After The Great Giveaway we went over to my parents while Jonathan helped my sister and brother-in-law move. We then took it easy and had pizza for dinner. Oh, did I mention Abigail missed her nap? It showed during dinner-she kept nodding off. My Dad ended up taking her out of her chair so she could sleep in his arms. She had a long and active day.

Sunday wasn't as eventful. We started the day off at church. The bounce house was still there, so the kids had a blast jumping away after the service. We came home and had lunch where it looked like Abigail was ready to sleep. I scooped her up and brought her to bed. Well, in that time she must have gotten a burst of energy because she did not fall asleep. She started falling asleep during dinner like on Saturday night, so we brought her to bed. I try to explain to her just how important sleep is! Here is our cutie sleeping at dinnertime:

Thankfully Abigail has gotten back into the swing of things. On Monday and today she actually fell asleep in record time and for just over two hours each time!

Pig and Pony Tails

We had a busy but fun weekend. I'll post more on that later, I'm just waiting to get a few videos from Jonathan's cell phone.

In honor of our near 90 degree weather today I thought I'd try and give Abigail a cool hairstyle. I didn't think I'd be able to pull it off, but Abigail's hair is in a ponytail now! We'll see how long it lasts (I'm guessing not past nap time).

Rubber Ducky I'm Awfully Fond of You

Bath-time for Sarah has been a completely different experience than bath-time for Abigail was when she was a baby. The reason for the difference? Abigail. Have I mentioned she LOVES the water? Wherever water is, so is Abigail. So, she is very close by when I bathe Sarah-too close sometimes.

This time Abigail has taken things to a new level. Remember the inflatable duck bath? We started using it with Sarah earlier this week. It got to the point where we had to put a gate in the bathroom doorway because Abigail kept trying to get in the duck tub with Sarah.

Even after the bath Abigail wasn't through with the duck tub. She dragged it out of the bathroom and pretty much everywhere she went until bedtime.
Unfortunately for Abigail (and fortunately for me) the duck sprung a leak and deflated after Sarah's first use. I'm not too sad to see it go this time around.

As a result, last night we put Sarah in the tub without the duck. Abigail joined her. It actually went pretty smoothly. May as well clean two kids at once now that we are able!

Musical Chairs

We finally got around to giving Sarah a chance to sit in the high chair. Up until this point we had been feeding her in her bouncy chair. This past weekend we got Abigail a booster seat and now she is right up at the table with us so Sarah can use the high chair.

The funny thing is, Sarah ate so much better in her high chair than in the bouncy seat!

The nice thing about Abigail sitting at the table is that the table is so much easier to clean than the high chair tray. The not-so-nice thing about Abigail sitting at the table is that the table doesn't catch as much of her mess as the high chair tray did ;-)

Now we can properly have family meal time without having Sarah on the table in her bouncy seat!

Free! Free! Free!

I'm excited to be part of an upcoming event at my church, GENESIS, in Woburn. It's called The Great Giveaway and it is happening THIS Saturday, May 22 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

I've already had a chance to see what will be available. Come to 16 Wheeling Ave in Woburn if you or someone you know needs any furniture, clothes, toys (there are TONS of toys), books, you name it.

I'll be there during the event, so come on by and say "hi"!

Happy Birthday Papa!

Along with throwing my sister a baby shower yesterday, we also celebrated my Dad's birthday. For the few days leading up to his birthday I would often let Abigail know it was coming up. Every time I let her know she wanted me to light a candle so she could blow it out. Well, Abigail sat next to Papa for our celebration and he was kind enough to let her help him blow his candles out (he was more than happy to include her).

Happy Birthday Dad/Papa!

Auntie Laura's Baby Shower

Today my Mom and I threw my sister her baby shower. We had a tea/Winnie the Pooh theme. I spent a lot of time online trying to figure out what sort of tea foods to make. We ended up making cucumber mint sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, orange scones, blueberry lemon scones and shortbread cookies. I must say, they turned out great. Special thanks also goes to my Aunt who made cookies and my Grandma who made Laura's favorite bean salad.

Here are a few pictures of our decorations. We mixed tea with Winnie the Pooh because of his love of honey. Our favors were honey dippers with "Mommy to Bee" tags. It wasn't planned, but I think they ended up looking like baby rattles.

Bridget is going to be one fashionable baby. She got so many cute clothes and other baby essentials. My favorite gift Laura got was an interactive one. She got a bunch of adorable clothes from my Grandma all attached to a clothesline. I had seen this done at another shower, such a good idea!

And now some pictures of the Mommy-to-Be and hostesses. Abigail got in on the photo action too...

I cannot wait to meet little Miss Bridget in just a few short weeks!!!

Seven Months!

Sarah is seven months old today! She has changed in many ways in the past month. Just recently she has been sitting up unassisted. She can also push off with her feet to inch closer to her toys, though she is still not scooting or crawling yet. Also, her bottom two front teeth are completely through...no more gummy grins!

Here she is in her 12-month onsie:

My Girls in their Hoodies

I love dressing the girls in "hoodies". I think it looks so cute. Right after I dressed Sarah in hers and put her hood on Abigail tried to do the same, except she was still in her pajamas and didn't have a hood.

I did put Abigail in a hoodie and thought it would be fun to take a few pictures.
