Fun with Nonna and Papa

We have spent a lot of time at Nonna and Papa's house this weekend, so there were a number of photo opportunities for me. Here is a sampling:

Today we tried giving Abigail oatmeal for the first time. Because we were at Nonna and Papa's, we did not have Abigail's bouncy seat. Nonna fed Abigail using the method she used for me, my sister, and my brother.

Here is a picture of Papa patting Abigail, followed by a picture of him giving her a lesson on crawling.

Abigail's First Hokie Football Game

The Virginia Tech Hokies played East Carolina University (and lost, but let's not dwell on that). This marked Abigail's first Hokie game. We all dressed up for the occasion: plenty of maroon and orange for our Hokie family. I'm not sure how much of the game Abigail ended up watching, maybe she'll be more interested when she is older.

Five Months!

We cannot believe that Abigail is five months old now! Time is just flying by and Abigail is changing so much! Just this week we started her on solid foods, she started rolling, and now she loves playing with her feet. We figure she weighs about 16 pounds now. We aren't sure of her length though. What I do know is that my favorite pj's of hers are a bit on the short side, so she has grown length wise ;-)

First Solid Food

Today was the first day we tried to give Abigail solid food. She had a feast of 2 teaspoons of rice cereal and mommy milk. Of course we had to capture this both on video and with our camera. How many pictures of a first solid food feeding can one take? Well, we managed to take 64 pictures of the entire event (what!?). We will only post some of the highlights though ;-)

Fun with Daddy

Since we got our new camera (Canon Rebel XS) we have been snapping pictures like crazy (over 100 pictures in the past five days). Here are a few of Abigail having fun with her Daddy:

We wanted to start our week off right and had breakfast at the dining room table (we usually have every meal at our coffee table in the living room). What were we going to do with Abigail? We put her in her new high chair:

Ok, so this is just a picture of Abigail, but Jonathan shot it while he was playing with her. I really like it:

Last night Jonathan and Abigail got a lot of playing time before bed time:

New Toy

For those of you who live in Massachusetts, you know that this weekend is Tax Free Weekend. In an effort to help out businesses, the State Government agreed to holding back on the sales tax for August 16 and 17. We did not intend to take advantage of this little break. However, we have been wanting a new camera for some time as ours is getting old. We opted for a Digital SLR and moved up on the megapixel count. Here is a sampling of photos we've taken in the past twenty four hours with our new and improved camera!

Visit with Aunt Ruth Ann and Uncle Leland

This past Wednesday we got to visit Jonathan's Aunt Ruth Ann and Uncle Leland. They came to Boston from Toledo, OH, for a convention. This was the first time Abigail got to meet them. We had lunch in town followed by a nice walk to the Public Gardens.

It was so wonderful to get out. For those of you in the area, you know that the weather has not been great lately. However, Wednesday was the perfect day to go outside!

We had a great visit with Jonathan's family and are thankful we had a chance to see them.

Why not throw in a poop story, eh? Abigail was in her stroller for a bulk of our visit. Jonathan suspected that she was "taking care of business" on the walk back to the Prudential Center. We checked her out in the elevator to the parking garage and he was right. She was so bad that we had to change her carefully once we got to the car. We had our car parked by an attendant, so we weren't in a parking space when we changed her. It turned out that someone needed to get by us so I grabbed Abigail and Jonathan drove out of the way. So there I was, holding a poopy baby at arms-length while two parking attendants look on. We wanted to get out of there fast so Abigail rode home in just a diaper ;-)

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Today we celebrated my Grandfather's birthday. The weather was perfect for an outdoor gathering with family. Abigail got to spend some time with her Nonna (my Mom) and other family members. Here is a picture of her looking intently at the birthday cake:

Here is a picture of my Grandpa with his best birthday gifts-his children (gifts that kept/keep on giving...13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren):

Abigail's cousin Mark was at the party too.

(Not looking at the camera, but at least they're looking in the same direction)

Dinner Time?

During Abigail's four month appointment the Doctor let us know that we could try and feed Abigail cereal and other solids between now and her six month appointment. For those of you who know, Abigail and I have had a few issues during feeding times, so I am looking forward to food that will sustain her for longer periods of time. Anyway, since we are almost ready to do solid foods, we thought it would be a good idea to put Abigail's high chair together. Here are a few pictures of Jonathan doing the assembly with Abigail supervising:

As you can see, Abigail may be a wee bit too small for the chair. We may need to start her on solids in her bouncy seat for now ;-)

Photo Shoot

I tried shaking things up a bit with Abigail today. Sometimes chewing on her rings and rattles just doesn't do it for her. So, I did a little photo shoot with her and ended up with some cute "action" shots ;-)

Four Month Appointment

Today was Abigail's four month appointment. I was sure to clean her up before heading on our five minute drive to the pediatrician. We got there just about on time (although they like you there 15 minutes early). Jonathan was holding her on his lap in the waiting room. Abigail then decided to sound off (and I don't mean by cooing or giggling). She loaded-no-she overloaded her diaper. So much so that it came out of her diaper onto her onsie, pants, and Jonathan's shorts. As we made our way to the examination room Jonathan had to hold her at arm's length. Jonathan kept things in perspective though and noted that her recent bowel movement would make for a more accurate weight measurement ;-)

Abigail now weighs in at 14 pounds, 3 ounces and is 25 inches long. She has not quite doubled in her weight since birth, but is close. Abigail had another round of vaccines given in three shots. Her face turned bright red, and she screamed, but not nearly for as long as last time. She handled everything really well.

Girls Day Out

My sister is engaged as of the July 4th weekend with a wedding date scheduled for the end of April of 2009. This means she needs to get into high gear on all of her wedding plans...next April will be here before we know it! Today Abigail and I joined my Mom, Grandma, Aunt, and Laura's friend for a fun wedding dress shopping day. I was snapping many pictures on my and my sister's cameras of all of Laura's options. Of course, these photos are TOP SECRET. There can be no way her fiance sees them until after they are married. I did, however, get a few cute pictures of Abigail on our fun girls day out:
