As you may know, Jonathan has been out of full-time work since last November. For the past month and a half he has played the role of part-time stay-at-home dad and freelance web/graphic designer. Things changed as of this past Friday. On Friday Jonathan was offered a position with Phillips Academy-Andover as a web designer. He starts his new job on November 10. I was excited to hear the news, knowing I could now be a full-time stay-at-home mom. On Monday morning I submitted my two weeks' notice. My last day is Thursday, November 6.
God has taken care of us these past two years in amazing ways. In late Spring 2007 we sat down to figure out when we could be out of debt. The answer: February/March 2008. In July 2007 we found out we were expecting. In November 2007 Jonathan was laid off. In February 2008 we paid our last installment on our last debt - even with our change in employment circumstances. Abigail came at the end of March. I got to spend five and a half months with her before heading back to work part-time. And now I get to go back to spending all of my time with her.
I didn't expect Jonathan's job search to take as long as it did. But, looking back, I can see why it took so long. God knew I would need him around during Abigail's first six months of life. I felt overwhelmed and had a wide range of emotions. Jonathan was there to encourage me, calm me down, and take Abigail when things got especially stressful. I am so amazingly blessed to have him. He is such a wonderful husband and an incredible father. I am so proud of him and am excited for this next step in his career!
