Today marks Abigail's two month birthday! This milestone came faster than I expected it to. In fact, I was cleaning up a bit before 8:00 tonight when Jonathan reminded me that today was her two month birthday. I wanted to dress her up quickly for a picture. The picture below was the best one. She was getting hungry and fussy, so we tried to make the photo shoot as quick and painless as possible. The second picture is of Abigail half way through her meal caught in a yawn.

We dedicated Abigail to the Lord on May 11, Mother’s Day. Abigail wore a special baptism gown that was made out of my Great Aunt Anna’s wedding dress. My Mother was baptized in the gown (along with her siblings) and I was baptized in the gown (along with my brother and sister). We wanted to continue the tradition. The only difference is that we had Abigail dedicated rather than baptized. Part of the idea behind this is that we want her to make the decision when she is older to proclaim her decision to follow Christ through baptism.
A friend of ours, Krista took photos of the occasion. You can view these in her blog or by visiting pictage.com.
We also had a friend of ours video tape the dedication, which you can view below. I apologize for the bumpy start.
Jonathan's cousin gave us a swing that their son has grown out of. I noticed that it is a great tool to see just how much our daughter has grown in the past six weeks or so. Below is a picture taken on April 1, when Abigail was 3 days old. The picture below that is from today, just about six weeks later. What a difference!

I had a wonderful first Mother's day. First of all, I got to spend part of it with three of my mothers (my mom, Jonathan's mom, and my grandmother). Second of all, Jonathan and I dedicated Abigail at church (a post will come later). And finally, Jonathan gave me quite a creative Mother's Day gift: a custom-made comic book chronicling my first 6 weeks as a mom. He used special software (Comic Life) and pictures to create it. You can check it out by clicking here.
We added a finishing touch to Abigail's room this weekend. Jonathan's Great Aunt Louise made Abigail a beautiful quilt - the kind of quilt you hang rather than use. Well, Papa Kapaldo made Abigail a beautiful quilt rack to display Aunt Louise's quilt. The thing I like best about the rack is that it also doubles as a shelf for photos and trinkets. Here is a picture of the rack and the quilt:
Two nights ago Abigail spent her first full night in her own crib. Up until then we had her sleeping in our room in her play pen for easy access. Of course she still wakes up during the night to eat, but it also seems like she is sleeping for longer shifts between nightly feedings, which is nice.
Abigail had her one month appointment yesterday. She now weighs 10 pounds, 1 ounce (versus 7 pounds 14 ounces at birth) and is 21.5 inches long (versus 19.5 inches at birth). She is a growing baby!
