Pumpkin Picking

We finally got around to pumpkin picking this year. I think in the future we'll try and go early October rather than mid or late-October because the pickings were slim this year. The weather was cloudy and brisk with a few sprinkles here and there, but it wasn't nearly as nasty as last year.

We met up with Bridget, Auntie Laura, and Nonna. We searched far and wide for the perfect pumpkins. We also let Lily get up close and personal with the muddy pumpkins.

I attempted a picture of my three girls, but Abigail didn't keep her hands on Lily, who ended up face first in the dirt. Oh well, maybe next year.

After pumpkin picking we warmed up with hot chocolate for the girls and coffee for the moms.

We waited until after dinner to carve. Jonathan worked with Abigail and Sarah worked with me. I already had an idea in mind and Sarah was on board, that is until she saw what Abigail and Daddy were doing. After that she pretty much lost interest in our pumpkin.

Aaron and Mita's Wedding Celebration

Our reason for heading down to Virginia this past weekend was to celebrate the marriage of Aaron and Mita. There was no way we weren't going to make the trip for this. I am trying to figure it out-the last time everyone was together-and all I know is that it was a long time ago (maybe Christmas 2010).

There were less than 30 people there (it was for immediate family) but if you went in there with a blindfold on, you would have figured there were a lot more. It was the joining of two beautiful families celebrating a very happy occasion. We all had a wonderful time.

This was also the first time we got to meet our new nephew Micah. He is such a cutie and has just about the best gummy smile I've ever seen.

Congratulations Aaron and Mita!

Family Reunion

We went to a family reunion of sorts at my Aunt's house last Saturday. It was a great chance to see family we haven't seen in a while.

The girls started and ended our visit with fun in the pool. I decided to hang out with Lily and then Bridget in the ball pit.

The skies opened up, but not until everyone had lunch raffle prizes were handed out for a fundraiser. We spent a lot of time in the garage, where the kids took turns at breaking a pinata. Abigail loved swinging at it. Sarah went for her turn and ran out of the way crying-I don't think she liked having so much attention on her.

It got to the point where it was a tad too early to leave, but if we waited longer the girls would maybe fall asleep for an easy transfer to bed (we had about an hour drive). The girls didn't mind at all, they had fun quietly playing with a Dora playset and then not quietly crashing into it with their cousin's car (they learned a new game called "Bam!").

We had a blast. It is always a good time when you gather family together. It gets even better when they bring their guitars and singing voices along too.

Sprinkler Park Fun!

We are in for a short heat wave this weekend. Today hit 90 and we should experience the same tomorrow and Sunday. My sister and mom had the day off so we headed to the sprinkler park with all the girls. I think they had fun. Maybe we'll pay another visit later this summer!

Fun with Bridget

This past week our niece Bridget turned two years old. We celebrated her birthday on Sunday. The girls were so excited. Once again, I made the mistake of telling Abigail about Bridget's birthday a few weeks before the actual event. Each morning she would ask me, "What day is today?" I'd tell her Monday, Tuesday, etc. Then she would ask me, "Is today Bridget's birthday?"

Well, it finally arrived. Bridget's Minnie Mouse birthday was a blast!

My brother James and his wife Dawn gave Bridget a bubble machine. The girls had a lot of fun trying that out.

Happy Birthday Bridget! You are growing up so fast!
