Photo Fridays 10.26.12

We are big fans of college football and root for our Alma Mater, Virginia Tech. We also root for Notre Dame because (1) Uncle James is studying Physics there and (2) they are doing really well this year (7-0) and the Hokies are not (4-4). Well, thanks to Grandma Kapaldo and Uncle James the girls can cheer on the Fighting Irish in style. The girls got a package from them yesterday and tried on their new clothes right away.

Last Sunday I got to hang out with my Dad for the afternoon at Gillette Stadium to watch the Patriots play the Seahawks. It wasn't a home game, rather, it was a viewing party for season ticket holders. The Patriots ended up losing, but I still had a great time hanging out with my Dad. We also got a chance to go on the field and meet an Alumna, Jermaine Wiggins.

Busy Week

Last week was a busy one for the Kapaldo girls. Abigail had her second year of Vacation Bible School, which had all of us pretty busy and exhausted by the end of the week. We also celebrated Nonna's birthday and spent all day Saturday at a family reunion. I'll post a little more about each later this week.

I was trying to explain "knock knock" jokes to Abigail by giving her one of the only examples I could remember (you know, the banana one that ends up with "orange you glad I didn't say banana?"). She tried it herself and ended up with strawberries and "Aren't you glad I didn't say orange?" Then she decided to tell me a joke of her own:

Abigail: Why did the tree go in the hole?

Mom: I don't know, why?

Abigail: Because it was shellfish! (followed by laughter from her and Sarah)

I think she was mixing a few jokes up.

Lily is starting to climb things now. Jonathan will be on his iPad sitting cross-legged on the floor and she will manage to climb up into his lap. I brought her into the girls' room this morning so I could put their laundry away. I sat her next to the basket. She pulled herself up onto her knees and proceeded to "help" me empty the basket.

Sarah is doing well too. We're working on transitioning her to official "big girl" status (in other words, potty training). Let's just say I would never make it as a professional potty trainer.

We're having a great summer and are looking forward to what August brings!

I'll leave you with what would have been my Photo Friday's picture for last week.

Photo Fridays 06.15.12

Notice something missing in this picture? We've had these awesome photos on display for about two years now. Since then we've added to our family and, well, the girls are a whole lot bigger now! So, this morning we're headed to a local pond to do a photo shoot with our good friend, Krista. I'm looking forward to updating our pictures and adding one of Lily!

Also, check out Krista's blog post to see her work from two years ago!

Remember how I mentioned that Abigail was getting more gutsy with Lily? Well, Abigail has not let up one little bit. I was on the phone with Jonathan in the kitchen when I went on my way into the living room to find Abigail standing up, holding Lily, and attempting to place Lily in her toy stroller! For my own peace of mind and for Lily's protection I unpacked and set up our play pen.

My friend Kelly gave us this play pen when Abigail was a baby. We used it a lot with Abigail, but not so much with Sarah. Abigail really wasn't interested in lifting Sarah, and most of Abigail's toys were not choking hazards. I am really happy we still have this handy baby gear and Lily doesn't seem to mind it either!

Abigail has, shall we say, been more gutsy with our little Lily. Sometimes I won't get Lily out of her crib right away after naptime and Abigail will ask permission to go into the room and turn the light on. The other day I went in there to see Abigail in the crib with a book "cradling" Lily in her arms/lap. I'm just glad she didn't try getting Lily out of the crib. And just yesterday I caught Abigail spreading out a play mat and successfully moving Lily from one spot on the floor to the mat. I'm wondering when Abigail will go ahead and attempt to lift Lily and carry her around!

Here comes the Elephant Safari outfit again. It's pretty remarkable that we've managed to keep track of the hat.

My niece Bridget and sister Laura came for a visit on Tuesday so the girls could watch the new Winnie the Pooh movie together. They only lasted on the "couch" for a few minutes, but I'm glad I got the chance to snag a picture:

I have been really bad about taking pictures lately. I did manage to snag two of Abigail and Lily though:

Photo Fridays 01.20.12

I cannot believe it is Friday already and that a whole week has gone by since I've made a post.

Lily has been smiling a lot lately, but now I have actual digital evidence. She's pretty generous with her smiles, but gives most of them to her big sister Abigail. Quite often Lily will smile at Abigail, who then bends over laughing like it's the funnies thing ever. Then Lily will smile again and Abigail laughs even harder. So here she is, our smiling Lily:

Lily is now two months old. I feel like it should be more like three months, because the past few weeks haven't flown by like I expected them to.

Lily gives us lots of smiles. She'll smile just about every time Abigail shows up. She gives me her biggest smiles in the middle of the night when she should be sleeping.

She's also cooing now. I love some of the sounds that come out of her cute little mouth. She likes to talk sometimes in the middle of the night too-when she should be sleeping :-)

Here's our growing baby, now an ancient two months old:
